When we promise a good user experience there are a number of basic rules that guide us.

During this lesson we will learn these rules in relation to topics such as: Designing an effective screen structure, matching the interface to mental images, immediate user fulfillment, minimization of hassle and friction, adjusting contents for searches, and more.

Cognitive Processes and the Limitations of the Human Comprehension

In order to produce an effective interface, it is crucial that you understand your users and their limitations as well as the manners in which they decipher their experiences when interacting with information systems.

During the lecture we will discuss the conclusions that came from studies on fascinating topics such as Hick’s Law, spatial visualization, attention and overload, motivating users to act, and more

Browser-based Interface Specifications

The browser is the natural environment of web interfaces. In order to properly specify for the browser environment it is important that we learn the technological limitations of the interface in the browser environment and the new capabilities that the technological developments offer us.

We will discuss scrolling behaviors and Foldline in solutions to meet interfaces of different resolutions, and more.

Data Mining

Data mining tools have become crucial in the user experience world. These tools allow us to learn about the users’ behaviors in real time and efficiently improve their experience.

We will learn about the most common and impressive tool, Google Analytics, and we will learn how it can significantly improve our work and what we can learn from our users through it.
